Angel earns her AKC Championship!

Angel, Sun Devil Knockin' on Heaven's Door, earned her AKC Championship title in style, finishing with a 3 point major in New Castle Pennsylvania the end of May. Handled by Suzanne Macre to all her points, this beautiful liver girl will now head to the field and see what she can do! Owner Jim Buzzard is starting to work her in the field and finding out it is fun! Good luck to Jim and Angel!

Qwik and Aubrey continue to wrack up titles, this amazing team now can add SENIOR HUNTER to the list!! Earning their title in 4 out of 4 passes! What CAN'T these two do together??? The sky is the limit for sure! Congratulations!!

Grace was fortunate to be asked by Helen McCready of Australia, here for the APC National Specialty, to come help handle several Pointers for her friend Terry Ellis of Texas.

Grace was handed this gorgeous liver girl named Anya, Springpoint The Lost Princess, to take into the ring in the Futurity Competition. Not only did Grace win her class with Anya, (out of 10) but went on to win BEST IN FUTURITY with Anya! Amazing, exciting, what an honor!!

BEST JUNIOR FOR GRACE AND DARCY IN BIRMINGHAM!

Grace and Darcy continue to be a very successful team! In April they traveled down to Birmingham Alabama for the CCRCA specialty, and all breed shows to follow. Grace and Darcy earned a Best Junior Handler on Sunday, AND went on to earn a Sporting Group 4! What a great day for them!

Also, In Kentucky in March, Grace and Darcy competed in very large open senior classes and did amazing! Saturday, they made the cut down to the final 8, from a starting number of 35. On Sunday, they earned a wonderful 3rd place in open senior in a class of 36! Also, they competed in the Midwest Best Junior competition, and made the cut in their preliminary class of 20, down to the final 8! Way to go to this amazing team!

In April in Fondulac, Grace and Darcy earned a wonderful second place in another BIG open senior class! That same weekend, Grace and Tyson also earned a 4th place in open senior in another big class.

CCRCA Specialty news

The CCRCA National Specialty held in Alabaster Alabama was successful for Sun Devil Curlies. Grace traveled down there in my absence, with Diane Engelking. Here are the highlights:

Issac, Ch. Sun Devil Take Me On CD WC UWC NAJ RAE went Best of Opposite Sex in Veteran Sweepstakes!!

Carmen, Ch. Sun Devil Rock The Casbah RN, took third in her Veteran Sweepstakes Class!

Darkside Yippie Kai Yai Yay, an Isaac son, handled by Grace, took Reserve Winners Dog from the puppy class!

Grace was Best Junior Handler and won the CCRCA Top Junior Handler Trophy for 2010. Her 6th year in a row!

Angel, Sun Devil Knockin' On Heaven's Door, owned by Jim and Ethel Buzzard, handled by Suzanne Macre, won her class at the specialty and took Reserve Winners Bitch to the major at the supported entry on Saturday.

Bebe, Ch. Sun Devil Nil Volentigus Arduum JH WCX, made the cut in Best Of Breed handled by Grace!

Sunny, Ch. Sun Devil Seaductive CD RN owned and handled by Jim Buzzard, won her open class in obedience, and earned her first CDX leg! Sunny and Jim earned their second CDX leg on Saturday in Birmingham!

Qwik, HR Ch. Sun Devil Seas Blazing for Shore CD, RAE JH, UWC WCQ, (also some agility titles) passed her WCQ again, and earned Versatile Curly Trophy!

Grace and Diane also participated in the All Breed shows in Birmingham and here are their highlights!

Friday-Diane, showing Darcy, Ch. Winfarthing Pride and Prejudice SH, earned a sporting group ONE!

Saturday-Diane and Tyson earned a BOB and Hound Group 3 award!

Sunday-Grace and Darcy went Best Junior Handler, and also earned a Sporting Group 4!

We are so excited that Angel, from my Carmen x Thriller litter, is now 2 points away from her AKC Championship! Angel is owned by one of my long time curly friends and owners of several other Sun Devil Dogs; Razz and Sunny. Angel earned two 3-point majors in Chicago in February, handled beautifully by Suzanne Macre! Angel is a lovely liver bitch, the feminine twin to her brother Stewart!

Darcy comes to join us here at Sun Devil for a while!

Darcy, Ch. Winfarthing Pride and Prejudice, SH, owned by Sonya Haskell, Grace Kofron and Jeff Zachow, has come to spend the spring, summer and fall with us here at Sun Devil. We can't be more excited! Darcy is one of Grace's junior dogs, and the the Field Spaniel she made it with to the finals at Westminster in 2010! Grace and Darcy have an amazing connection and he is joy to have at our house. We are looking forward to a very successful time with Grace and Darcy!

Wow!! Is all I can say about the beginning of 2011 for Grace with her dogs!

January, Novi Michigan, BJH with Tyson over a field of 50 plus juniors!

January, St. Louis MS, 3rd place in Open Senior with Whitney, a new juniors dog, first weekend out!

February, Grace and Diane travel to New York City for Westminster Kennel Club dog shows, with Tyson and Ansel. Tyson goes on to take an Award of Merit, and Ansel makes the cut in a large group of specials. Grace also showed Fitz, Ch.Wintershaven Shades of Pemberly, for Ginni O'Toole.

February, Chicago Illinois. BIG second place in Open Senior with Tyson. 5 point major with Jiggy, a Staffie puppy owned by Lenny Gremminger, at their specialty, from the puppy class! 2, three-point majors and a single point on Oscar, "Daybreak Jammin" owned by Steve Johnston, and a cut in a big juniors ring with Darcy, Ch. Winfarthing Pride and Prejudice SH.

March, Louisville, Kentucky. Huge 30 point 3rd place in Open Senior with Darcy, making the cut down to the final 8 in her large prelim class at Regional Best Junior Competition, and also making the cut down to the final 10 in open senior out of a class of 36 on Saturday.

Stewie is safe and sound in Australia with Tony

After a year of planning, and almost two years in the making, Stewart, Ch. Sun Devil Ive Gotta Feeling for Cudyncae, is now happily living in Beerwah, Australia with Tony and Kevin of Cudyncae Gundogs. Stewart spent a month is the Melbourne Quarantine Station before being sprung by Tony on December 12. Day by day, Stewart has been getting used to his new life in Oz. We look forward to hearing about all his and Tony's successes as they start their great adventure together.

Yeah! Cami had her pups on Saturday 8th! We are blessed with 4 gorgeous babies. 3 males, 1 female. The female puppy is liver, along with one other liver male. Two black males round off the pack! All were really big at birth, probably the biggest puppies I have had! Check out Kofronphotography.com for picture updates!

Mimi, above, at 14 weeks. Samba, below. I LOVE these puppies!! Wonderful outlines, heads, length of neck, bone and substance, dripping in coat and attitude galore! Samba will be going to the UK to join Theresa James, Spike's owner. It will not be until November, and we should have some fun with him until he leaves!

Cami is going to be bred!

Camelot, Ch. Sun Devil Deo Vindici, will be bred this November to Kelsmere Kumera. We are so excited about this breeding! Theresa James has generously sent frozen Semen from Spike over the US for me to use on Cami! With this breeding we at Sun Devil expect to continue to beautify and tighten our type we got from our litter with Andy x Carmen! Spike's temperament is also superb, and will cement the amazing temperament of Cami onto their pups! I expect superb coats, gorgeous English type, incredible working ability and trainability. Both these dogs are amazing workers in the field with superb noses and drive. They have proved themselves in the breed ring as well! Another Best Junior for Grace and tyson!

The two are on a roll it seems. Back from the Specialty, Grace and Tyson go to the Rockford-Freeport Kennel Club shows October 2 and 3, and step into the junior ring and get another first place award, AND Best Junior Handler! You two just get better and better together. On Sunday, Grace and Tyson earned a wonderful second place in open senior! Keep up the phenomenal teamwork!
